It is not a joke, April 1st will mark the start of the lifting of a vaccine or negative-test verification for indoor mega-events such as concerts and sports. The majority of states have removed or outright prohibited this kind of mandate.
California is one of the few states that still maintain this mandate and some consider the removal of it long overdue. However, the State will still strongly recommend the practice. Indoor mega-events are considered those with a 1,000 people inside and 10,000 attendees outside events. There will also be no capacity limitations and no physical distancing restrictions. Hosts themselves rather than mandated by the state can still choose to abide by requiring verification to enter events. The new guidance comes from the California Department of Public Health as hospitalizations with COVID cases are dropping on a statewide basis.
The San Diego Gulls were enthused as they took to twitter to announce that they would no longer be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test at the door of the Pechanga Arena.
