Three people were arrested in a string of organized retail thefts in San Diego. One man and two women were caught Friday, before attempting to hit a third mall. Carlsbad Police Officers caught the trio and booked them into the county jail to further investigate their crimes.
A statement Monday alleged the group rented a car Thursday and drove down from San Francisco and Contra Costa County to make our lives miserable and lawless as well.
Evidently, they were unsuccessful in their endeavors. After hitting the UTC and Plaza Bonita shopping centers, the culmination of their efforts amounted to 329 stolen articles of clothing from Victoria’s Secret, retailing at almost $16,000. The group stashed the pieces in their car, all of which was recovered following their arrest.
The two Victoria’s Secret stores in San Diego and National City were hit Friday morning and early afternoon, but the trio were stopped in their tracks before hitting a third store around 5pm. Authorities in Escondido are also investigating the three for connections to previous thefts in Escondido.
Over the last few months, lawless has hit many malls around California. Crimes like smash-and-grabs in the Bay Area and Los Angeles have made them unsafe. In San Diego, a GNC worker at UTC mall was stabbed trying to stop a robbery.
