The U.S. Navy Medical Center in San Diego received its highest patient satisfaction ratings in eight years. The facility was in the top quarter for all 10 metrics considered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services along with the Defense Health Agency’s Customer Satisfaction Survey.
The facility also received its best results ever on the Tricare Inpatient Satisfaction Survey. According to Jeff Apana, the hospital’s patient relations compliance officer, “Our customer relations program was formally commended by the inspector general inspectors as the `gold standard’ of programs they have inspected across Navy medicine.”
In total, 17 of the hospital’s staff and healthcare providers were included in the Joint Outpatient Experience Survey’s “best of the best” list, which provides for exceptional medical care providers from throughout the Navy.
Along with being one of the best hospitals in the Navy, the Navy Medical Center San Diego is also used as a training ground for medical personnel being sent to combat zones overseas. The hospital also conducts medical research, education, and training in military medicine.
“There’s nothing more gratifying than to receive confirmed, positive feedback directly from our customers and patients,” said Capt. Bradford Smith, the commanding officer of NMCSD. “We have been hitting the mark when it comes to taking care of our patients.”
