Elon Musk is once again involved in a twitter war with another California elected official. This time, it is State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara on Thursday.
It all began when Lara sent out a tweet about Musk, “Yesterday @elonmusk reportedly told investors he’s ‘pushing very hard’ to change the rules on telematics for California drivers. Push all you want, but we won’t bend on protecting consumer data, privacy and fair rates,” Lara wrote. Musk responded with, “You should be voted out of office.” Lara is running for reelection this November and is currently facing a primary challenger in Democrat Assemblymember Marc Levine of Marin County. Lara had previously served in the Assembly and State Senate before becoming State Insurance Commissioner in 2018.
However, as we can remember, in May 2020, the same thing happened with then-Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez who tweeted, “F*ck Elon Musk,” to which Musk replied, “Message received.” After that he announced that he would be moving Tesla out of California to Texas. Gonzalez has since left the Assembly, and currently plans to take up leadership of the California Labor Federation.
On January 27th, she posted again in a tweet which states, “ F Elon Musk, I will put my trust in Ricardo Lara, everyday of the week over this billionaire who takes CA taxpayers for years”.
After that, she deleted the tweet and posted the other one. She wrote, “So @Tesla & @elonmusk should really focus on making cars safer, following the rules, respecting workers, and being more transparent with federal and state road safety regulators. Not interfering in CA elections.”
