As of now, the extension for the in-person instruction is moved to begin Monday, January 31. UC San Diego announced that because of the rise in COVID-19 cases, they have decided to extend the remote instructions until the end of January.
Their statement on Twitter says, “In response to the considerable spike in new COVID-19 cases, we are extending the mandatory remote instruction period until the end of January. In-person instruction is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 31.”
Same with San Diego State University, President Adela de la Torre said, “as a proactive measure in response to this public health modeling, during the first two weeks of the spring semester, Jan. 19 through Friday, Feb. 4, instruction will be virtual with some minor exceptions. Our normal in-person course schedule will resume as planned on Monday, Feb. 7.” Cal State San Marcos will be in a similar situation. The university will be in online learning for the first two weeks and will return to in-person on Feb. 7th.
Most of the CSU and UC schools moved their in-person date. We are not sure how it is going to impact the students and their mental health, but we hope that those measures are done for better.
