Study Shows People Not Moving to California

Moving to California to start a family and business venture used to be the American dream. But now, that dream has left the Golden State behind, along with many residents fleeing to Texas and Florida. A study from California Policy Lab found a 12% increase in people going overall. The numbers further break down, showing a 12% increase for San Francisco and a 13% increase for Sacramento residents moving away.

But the study also noted that since the Covid-19 lockdowns, California has also witnessed a sharp decline in people coming to the west coast. Across all regions, the study found a decrease of outsiders moving in from 25% to 45%. In addition, Sacramento saw a drop in out-of-state entrances by 33%, while San Francisco suffered a 45% decline. “I guess I was a little bit surprised to see that entrances had fallen so much. It wasn’t so much that we saw it in a particular area. For me, the surprise was that this was a statewide phenomenon,” co-author of the study from California Police Lab, Evan White, told KCRA.

It’s not just ordinary people leaving in droves as Elon Musk has moved Tesla to Texas. But the real question is why. After years of Democratic governance, home prices have skyrocketed, creating the homeless crisis that sparked the recall election, the hostile environment for small businesses, and gas prices are out of control.  Disney announced this year that 2,000 of its employees would be moving from California to Florida, citing “Florida’s business-friendly climate” according to chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Josh D’Amaro. These factors have contributed to the great exodus out of the west coast. California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson said, “”California is the capital of homelessness and poverty, suffocating gas and income tax rates, and the highest number of residents picking up and moving to more affordable and welcoming states”. Due to the loss in population, California will lose one congressional seat while states like Texas and Florida gain seats.

The final nail in the coffin was the pandemic. The dictator-in-chief, Gavin Newsom, responded horribly by locking people in their homes and creating a culture of fear and intimidation against people who refused to mask up or get inoculated. This allowed people to finally realize what California has become, a safe space for woke elites who wish to cram down their views onto others. But we’ll keep fighting the good fight against the Left’s tolerant tyranny.
