Kyle Rittenhouse has been acquitted on all charges of his involvement in the Kenosha Riots. The riots, which were sparked by the shooting of Jacob Blake as he was attempting to reach for a knife in front of the kids of the woman whom he had just assaulted, caused no small amount of damage to the city in Wisconsin last year.
The trial also received no small amount of publicity and has been made a national drama, so much so the MSNBC were barred for part of the trial due to following jurors. Despite the vast amount of video evidence showing Kyle’s aggressors and the full acquittal, this has not stopped political operatives from launching a hateful campaign against the boy who lived. Everyone from Jerry Nadler to the President himself weighing in on the Wisconsin trial. The president even went as far to call Rittenhouse a “white supremacist” during his campaign, further ensuring that having any impartiality during this trial will be near impossible. California’s own Gavin Newsom put out a tweet saying, “America today: you can break the law, carry around weapons built for a military, shoot and kill people, and get away with it. That’s the message we’ve just sent to armed vigilantes across the nation.” As much as Gavin may hate it, Americans, including Californians, have not just a right but a duty to self-defense.
However, this is all part of a broader problem that has been occurring. Politicians, journalists, and political pundits trying to weigh in and place their fingers on the scales of justice in a state they do not reside. Mayors like de Blasio from New York, governors like Newsom from California, and Representatives like Nadler and Cori Bush of Missouri have little knowledge of Wisconsin law yet feel it as their role to weigh in on such matters as if the laws of their residency should be considered. The nationalization of such a trial, where a minor who was defending the city where his family lived and in which he worked was attacked and had to fight to save his life, is indicative of a greater divide. This can be seen alone by the massive amounts of disinformation that has been put out. Lies such as Rittenhouse illegally possessed the gun, that he crossed state lines with the gun, that Rittenhouse had provoked the attack and had chased the men down were all lies that were disseminated by corporate media and political operatives.
The trial itself was political from the beginning and is being used as a far-left tool to try and strip Americans of their right to self-defense.
