Gas Prices in California Saw One of the Largest Increases in the US This Week

California has ranked among the top ten U.S. states with the highest weekly gas price increase, according to a new report. The average price currently for regular gas in California is $4.62, according to data collected from the American Automobile Association.

From Thursday last week to Thursday this week, the state has seen a four-cent increase in gas prices.

The state is imitating a national trend of increased demand for gas but a slower gas pump price increase, according to a report from the AAA. The current national average for a gallon of regular gas goes for $3.42 as of Friday.

Several other U.S. states that recorded the highest average increases include Hawaii, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, Illinois, Maine, and Arizona.

The gas prices in California range depending on where you are in the state; the lowest average is in Modoc county at $4.44. The highest average price is in Mono County at $5.45. San Diego County falls just below the state average at $4.55. The higher prices are primarily in the rural counties in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the counties that encompass the Bay Area.

Some of the ways you can preserve gas so you can get the most out of your tank are to minimize air conditioning usage, make your car as light as possible, and use regular instead of premium unless it is needed.
