Biden Criticizes Texas’ Ruling On Abortions

On Wednesday, President Biden commented that the new Texas law regarding abortions “blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe v. Wade,” and it affects women since their access to health care is being cut. The law, signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott prohibits more abortions after a heartbeat is detected, usually around six weeks.

The law also permits citizens to file lawsuits against abortion providers if they think they violated the policy. Biden said, “Outrageously, it deputizes private citizens to bring lawsuits against anyone who they believe has helped another person get an abortion, which might even include family members, health care workers, front desk staff at a health care clinic, or strangers with no connection to the individual.”

Biden promised that his administration would try its best to protect Roe v. Wade: “My administration is deeply committed to the constitutional right established in Roe v. Wade nearly five decades ago and will protect and defend that right.”

The Texas State House also create new legislation to restrict access to abortion-inducing medication. Several other states tried to ban early pregnancy abortions but have been blocked. The Texas law ensures that the babies’ lives will not be threatened. However, Biden will continue to endanger their lives as he seeks to overturn this ruling.
