It’s no secret that the 2020 election was a disaster for Republicans. On top of Trump’s re-election loss, Republicans failed to take back the House and lose the Senate with two critical runoff elections in Georgia. Since then, the Democratic majority has tried to ram through legislation ranging from awful infrastructure spending (only 5% goes towards roads and bridges) to unconstitutional election federalization to blatantly evil critical race theory propaganda in schools. Yep, things are not great. But as Biden promised us, “Help is on the way,” just not the help he expects.
With each passing day, the 2022 midterms draw nearer and nearer with Republican excitement and Democrat fear as they prepare to lose Congress. According to 270towin, the Senate is likely to end up 50-47 in favor of the Democrats (current polls show), with three toss-up seats, while House predictions have yet to be released. This may seem like bad news for the GOP, but there are some caveats.
For one, the party out of power does disproportionately well in midterm elections, giving Republicans advantages in both houses of Congress. The second point here is that the three Senate toss-up seats, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, have Republicans in those seats, meaning they will likely stay the same party. But the most critical example is that the polls always underestimate us. For instance, in 2020, 270towin predicted that Thom Tillis (R-NC) would lose re-election, which never came to fruition. Georgia, Arizona, and New Hampshire will likely flip back to Republican control while keeping North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida. Pennsylvania might be the only Republican-controlled seat that turns blue, but that will be enough seats to gain the Senate again.
As for the House of Representatives, Republicans could win back based on redistricting alone since red states have gained more electoral votes as blue states lose population. That, plus the recall effort of Newsom here at home, could see a massive red wave hit against the blue-occupied shore. The Democrats still have their tricks to make the election about Trump with the January 6 commission. Nevertheless, the American people are intelligent and courageous enough to see through this sham and vote for representatives who support the American ideals and always fight for freedom.
