Only 13% of the roughly 50,000 illegal immigrants given a court date are bothering to show up. These immigrants are released into the United States with court dates to reappear and begin their official immigration process.
Illegal immigrants are given a list of addresses and contacts for ICE officials across the country and instructed to report within 60 days. The expectation is that these immigrants will reappear to seek work permits in the U.S.
Just 6,700 migrants who arrived between mid-March and mid-July showed up as of Monday, a report from the Department of Homeland Security reported.
Over 16,000 released in that same time span have not appeared and are beyond their 60 days.
Another 27,000 were also released in that same time span have not returned, but are still in their 60 day period.
“While individuals have 60 days to check in with ICE, many are proactively reaching out to ICE to begin their official immigration processing, including by receiving a Notice to Appear,” DHS spokesperson Meira Bernstein told Axios. “Those who do not report, like anyone who is in our country without legal status, are subject to removal by ICE.”
As the border crisis continues to grow, the Biden administration continues to ignore it. President Biden placed VP Harris in charge of solving the issue, but neither have put any true effort into a solution. Biden rolled back several of President Trump’s immigration policies, creating the large crisis we now have.
A report from Republican members of the Senate Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management found the Biden administration is spending $2 billion to stop construction of the border wall Trump started.
The Biden administration has essentially put a welcome on the U.S. border.
