It’s official. Gavin Newsom’s day of reckoning has been decided as September 14th. Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis decided the date mere hours after the recall was formally certified.
This is the fifth of six recall attempts made, with the other five failing to gain the needed signatures. However, this recall petition not only reached the 1.5 million signatures needed, but it also blew past that and reaching a total of 1.7 million signatures. Newsom and the corrupt California democrats attempted to persuade voters to withdraw their signatures, they failed tremendously. Only 43 signatures were withdrawn, showing to Newsom and his cronies that California is fed up with him and is ready to kick him out of office.
This September, Californians will be asked two questions
- Do you wish to recall current Governor Gavin Newsom
- If yes, who should replace him
With over 60 candidates lined up ready to take Newsom’s job, Californians will have quite a few names to decide between. Most notable being former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, businessman John Cox, and former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner. However those are just some of the Republicans, there are also about ten Democrats wanting to take his seat. Kevin Paffrath and Frank Wade being among them.
However, for Republicans, the fight is just getting started, as Newsom has used his public appearances to smear the recall campaign, calling it “a naked attempt by Trump Republicans to grab control in California.” Newsom is also backed by millions of dollars from wealthy friends he’s made (a few of which could be spotted at his French Laundry dinner). Currently, the anti-recall groups have donated over $28 million to support Newsom while the groups supporting the recall have garnered nearly $18 million.
As September 14th grows closer with every passing day, Newsom is most certainly sweating bullets as support for his removal is only gaining momentum. Californians aren’t quick to forget the year they were forced to spend away from their families, friends, and jobs, and that will most certainly show this September.
