The Biden Administration Is Scared Of Him Taking Questions. Are We Surprised?

Written By Will Seykora

It’s no secret the Biden Administration has been hiding him away from the public ever since he took office. However, Jen Psaki, Biden’s press secretary, admitted in a podcast with CNN on Thursday that having Biden take impromptu questions “is not something we recommend.” This conversation stemmed from an incident where Biden was caught off guard by Kaitlan Collins at the White House. She asked Biden if he would be including a $15 per hour minimum wage increase in the coronavirus relief package in March. Biden did give a realistic answer stating he didn’t think it would be included in that specific bill. Still a close call for Psaki, she states “In fact, a lot of times we say ‘don’t take questions” but does Biden listen? Of course not, she continues by saying “But he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”

Psaki claims the administration just wants him to focus his time on addressing subjects they say the American people care about, such as COVID and the economy. Is that why Biden waited until his 65th day in office to hold his first solo press conference? It seems like he would have waited even longer had it not been for criticism from the media, and it looks like we shouldn’t be expecting another one coming anytime soon. Biden often leaves speeches, announcements, and other White House events without answering a single question from reporters. This precedent being set by Biden is not something we should find comforting. We now have a President who doesn’t want to answer questions, even from media that has repeatedly given him favorable coverage despite his clear lack of leadership.

Why should the Biden Administration be worried about him talking to the press? Do they know something about him we don’t? Or are they just scared that he might expose the fact that he has no clear plan for The United States next 4 years? It appears that Americans are just going to have to stand by and hope that he finally starts acting like a real President and answers questions he’s uncomfortable with.
