According to Stephen Miller, a former advisor to then-President Donald Trump, America First Legal (AFL) is pursuing a lawsuit to put an end to the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT).
AFL was founded by officials during the Trump era in order to fight for an America First agenda and fight against the plethora of radical leftist movements we see in the U.S. today. Miller has since sought support from federal workers who are being forced to complete CRT training as a job requirement.
Critical Race Theory is based on the thought that race is a social construct formed to oppress people of color rather than being something people are born with, naturally. It teaches people that they will forever be oppressed regardless of any strides they may make towards their own success.
In September of 2020, former President Donald Trump signed an executive order that banned CRT training in federal agencies for being “anti-American propaganda.” Unfortunately, Joe Biden immediately reversed this order as soon as he came into office and pushed for CRT training to be a requirement in most fields. Expectedly, Biden has received major backlash from both federal and state Republicans.
Doug Lamborn (R-CO) and Jeff Duncan (R-SC) wrote a letter to warn Education Secretary Miguel Cardona about the negative impact implementing CRT in the education system would have.
“Simply put, the teachings of Critical Race Theory want to reject the principles established in our Constitution and our individual God-given rights, and instead divide individuals into competing racial identity groups while doing little to help minority students advance,” they included in the letter.
Along with Miller, other high-profile Trump administration officials have joined the AFL board of directors, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former acting US Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, and former Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russ Vought.
Forcing people to believe and teach that race is bound to always hold people back from succeeding is not only unconstitutional, it is an outright lie. The United States has shown that anyone from any racial background can succeed at doing anything they work towards. Normalizing a victim mentality for people of color will prevent them from achieving the American Dream.
