Last month, California approved a bill that created the nation’s first statewide ethnic studies curriculum, consisting of a 900-page document. Its stated goal is to educate California’s public high school students about different cultures, but in reality it is being used for nefarious purposes.
According to Christopher Rufo, a reporter at City Journal mentioned how the presenters at the Santa Clara workshops “encouraged teachers to inject left-wing politics into the classroom and to hide controversial material from parents.”
Jorge Pacheco, the president of the California Latino School Boards Association told his audience that they should “cash in on kids’ inherent empathy” by turning them into activists at an early age. Pachecho believes that the U.S. is a political regime based on “settler colonialism” in which he accuses white men of being to blame for a “system of oppression.”
During the Santa Clara workshop, he presented slides of examples of oppression. This included examples of “white people exploiting people of color,” “men exploiting women,” and “rich people exploiting poor people.”
Pacheco believes that the solution to this so-called “system of oppression” is to awaken the younger generation to the oppression and lead them to “decodify” and “destroy” the dominant political regime. The first step would be to “get into the mind of a white man” and lead these transforming students into “activist intellectuals” who would decodify a system of oppression, including “white supremacy, genocide, private property, and God.”
