The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) has created an educational program for migrant children that will go on through July. In light of that, teachers are being given the option to teach migrant kids in-person instead of their American students who have already been suffering at the hands of Gov. Newsom and Democratic school board members.
Over 700 unaccompanied children are currently being housed at the San Diego Convention Center, which has experienced a major COVID-19 outbreak due to migrants being infected upon being granted entry to the US.
Students from San Diego County have been stuck with online learning for over a year now and are not expected to return any in person instruction until April 12th.
“Why would anyone volunteer to go in that situation and put our own students at risk with COVID running amok. My first obligation is my current’s students’ health. Why would the board of education allow putting our kids at risk of getting COVID?” said an anonymous California teacher.
The hypocrisy runs deep. Not only are COVID-19 concerns being completely dismissed, but taxpaying students have been taken off the priority list for education.
“We agree that every child deserves an in-person education, but why are tax paying students put last? If this is a humanitarian issue then who is rescuing San Diego Unified students, because our leaders have failed them,” said a San Diego Unified School district parent, Emily Diaz.
