Following the riot at the Capitol in January, social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter baselessly banned former President Donald Trump from posting. However, just this past Tuesday, Facebook went a step further by removing a video of a Donald Trump interview conducted by his daughter-in-law Lara Trump.
A Facebook employee then sent an email to a group of Trump officials stating that anything posted on any of their platforms “in the voice of President Trump” is not currently allowed on our platforms (including new posts with President Trump speaking) then adding the warning that they “will be removed if posted, resulting in additional limitations on accounts that posted it.”
Lara Trump posted a screenshot of the email to her Instagram.
Youtube has also begun to take action as they stated that they will ban any uploads of Trump’s 2021 CPAC speech unless the uploader adds “countervailing viewpoints” about Trump’s refuted election claims. The Daily Wire reached out to Youtube regarding the removal of Trump’s speech, posted by Right Side Broadcasting Network, but Youtube responded by saying that “Content featuring footage from CPAC 2021 that does not violate our policies or contains sufficient educational, documentary, scientific and artistic context remains on YouTube.”
As Facebook controls the largest social media platforms today, their blatant censorship of our 45th President robs the majority of people of the opportunity to hear anything he says or does.
Trump senior advisor, Jason Miller, recently teased the idea of Trump fighting back by creating his own social media platform. In an interview with Fox News, Miller stated that “it’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does.”
