Assembly Candidate Marco Contreras Announces California Vaccine Connector Workshop in Partnership with Local Pastors

San Diego, CA –  State Assembly candidate Marco Contreras announced a partnership with local pastors to provide a hands-on California Vaccine Connector workshop to help eligible San Diego County residents sign up for their COVID-19 vaccinations.
“While 839,214 San Diego County residents have been vaccinated to date, that only includes 19.3% of Latinos and less than 3% of African-Americans living in the region. This is an unacceptable disparity we cannot ignore,” said Contreras.
“The COVID-19 pandemic hit the South Bay harder than other areas in the County, and we have too many hard-working residents living in multigenerational homes. Without access to the vaccine, they are putting themselves and their loved ones at risk,” Contreras continued.
The partnership is inviting San Diego County residents to receive a socially distanced tutorial at Victory Outreach, 4235 National Ave. on Sunday, March 28th at 6:00 p.m. The tutorial will include: who is currently eligible for a vaccine; acceptable proof of eligibility; how to sign up for an appointment at the County’s vaccine clinics; how to navigate online portals; and the importance of scheduling a second dose of the vaccine if necessary. Masks will be required and social distancing will be strictly enforced.
“Many San Diego County residents do not know they are eligible for the vaccine, or how to sign up for an appointment,” explained Contreras. “We will be here to speak to residents in their native language and to walk them through the process at their own pace.”
Contreras, a fluent Spanish speaker who was born in San Diego but grew up in Tijuana, said the tutorial would also be made available online via his website and corresponding YouTube channel.
