$1.9 trillion COVID relief bill shows Democrat’s true priorities

Over the weekend, Senate Democrats passed a $1.9 trillion bill that once again showed their twisted priorities.

The bill included granting stimulus checks to inmates, including numerous amounts of convicted murderers. Illegal immigrants who overstayed their visas but retained their Social Security numbers are also eligible to receive stimulus checks. Republican Senators Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, and Bill Cassidy presented an amendment to the floor that would bar prisoners and illegal immigrants from receiving these checks. However, the amendment lost a vote along party-lines, 49-50.

After the vote, Tom Cotton wrote on Twitter, “Dylann Roof murdered nine people. He’s on federal death row. He’ll be getting a $1,400 stimulus check as part of the Democrats’ ‘COVID relief’ bill.”

“Prisoners have all their living and medical expenses paid for by the taxpayer, they don’t pay taxes, they don’t contribute to the tax base, they can’t be unemployed. Inmates are not economically impacted by Covid,” Bill Cassidy stated.

In addition, the bill only allocated $6 billion towards reopening public schools for the 50.7 million public school students in the country. However, the bill still does not require that schools reopen, regardless of scientists saying it can be done safely. To put it in perspective, $1,400 will be sent to the Boston Marathon bomber while each public school student will have just $118 spent towards them.

This bill is the most recent example of Biden failing to fulfill his promises to the American people. Throughout his campaign, Biden promised the American people unity and cooperation from all sides. But not a single Republican in the Senate voted with Democrats in favor of the bill. Biden also promised $2,000 checks, an idea he abandoned almost immediately after being sworn into office.

Many Americans voted for Biden with an expectation that he would fulfill his promise of a $15 minimum wage as well, but even Senate Democrats opposed that increase. After the amendment failed to win enough Democratic support, Senator Bernie Sanders claimed that they are going to keep bringing it up until it gets done.

Time and time again we see that Biden made false promises on the campaign trail for the sole purpose of stealing votes from the American people. He promised unity and cooperation, yet presents such a radical agenda that even some Democrats disagree with. While former President Donald Trump worked to fulfill his campaign promises starting on day 1, Biden has quickly shown that he will use his power as President to do what he wants, not what he promised the American people he would do.
