50th District Representative Darrell Issa has been named to two powerful House committees; the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Issa released the following statement following the decision:
“I am honored to return to service as a Senior Member of the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees this Congress. These committees stand at the forefront of our nation’s great challenges: protecting free speech, securing our border, reforming immigration, combating global terrorism and limiting government overreach. On behalf of the 50th District of California, I can’t wait to get to work and craft lasting solutions.
“I look forward to the leadership of Judiciary Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Foreign Affairs Ranking Member Michael McCaul (R-TX). They are outstanding colleagues, and work tirelessly on behalf of our nation’s families, workers and small businesses.”
Issa is no stranger to sitting on important House committees. Back in 2018 when he was a representative for California’s 49th district, he served as the Chair of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Issa served as a representative for the 49th district since 2001. Now, as a representative for the 50th, Issa continues to fight for the issues that his constituents care about the most. He has worked on border security, saying “My position on the border is simple: We must build the wall. We can’t keep our country safe if we don’t secure the border.” He has also been dedicated to standing up to extremists. His work resulted in Eric Holder being held in contempt of Congress, Hillary Clinton being held accountable for the deaths of American diplomats and servicemen in Benghazi, and Barack Obama being held accountable for presiding over the Lois Lerner scandal.
