The Coronado Community Center will act as one of the newly added vaccination sites in San Diego County to help reach the county’s goal of administering vaccines to over 500,000 health care workers per day.

Stemming from the “Vaccination Super Station” that opened on January 11th, Coronado is one of multiple sites across the county that is delivering the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Vaccination sites are intended to accommodate a lot of people,” City Manager Blair King said. “Our combined goal is to accelerate this phase of the vaccine so we can move on to the next phase as quickly as possible. The City will make its facilities and staff from multiple departments available to expedite the operation at no cost.”

Open during the weekdays from 10 a.m through 7 p.m, Sharp Coronado will be overseeing the site and giving shots to qualifying San Diego County residents who are not able to receive the vaccine through their medical provider.

“We are committed to being part of the solution to provide greater vaccine access and are in dialogue now with the County and the City on how we can best move forward,” said CEO of Sharp Coronado Hospital Susan Stone.

Qualifying Phase 1A residents include doctors, pharmacists, EMTs, and dentists.  All will have to register online through the county’s website as appointments are required.
