Governor Newsom issues new Stay-at-Home order with added Curfew

Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Thursday that he would be issuing a stay-at-home order once again. This time adding a 10 pm curfew for all “non-essential” gatherings. The curfew will go into effect on Saturday, November 21st, at 10 pm and last one month.

After almost nine months of stay at home orders and lockdowns, the method chosen by Gov. Newsom and many other officials across the country has proven to be anything but helpful. The initial goal of these lockdowns was to slow the spread and avoid mass hospitalization of those infected with COVID-19. With that in mind, cases are still going up despite the stay-at-home orders. Clearly a new method of eradicating the virus is necessary, and the American people are making that clear. There have been lockdown protests throughout the past few months and many public officials have come out in opposition to these draconian measures. Just today, Mayor Kevin Faulconer tweeted against the Governors latest stay at home order.

Not only do the lockdowns not help eliminate the virus, but they negatively impact the lives of business owners, children, and parents. Mental health issues and suicides are on the rise, domestic violence and child neglect make households less safe, and substance abuse continues to plague the nation at even higher rates. Over 50,000 doctors and scientists have signed a petition to end the universal lockdowns. However, Democrats do not want to acknowledge that science.

The consequences that the lockdowns create may be acceptable if they actually worked, but considering we have been under some type of lockdown since March, the approach isn’t working.

Possibly the most infuriating part of this whole situation is the recent news of Governor Newsom, who has been preaching about wearing masks and staying inside, getting caught attending a large gathering at a fancy indoor restaurant with no mask and no physical distancing. It would be expected for a leader to follow their own rules and not indulge in hypocritical behavior while everyone else is left to suffer.  Unfortunately, it seems that Newsom’s ideology is “Rules for thee, but not for me.”
