Former Republican Congressman Darrell Issa has won the race for California’s 50th Congressional District in the 2020 election. Issa was easily victorious, receiving 54% of votes compared to the 46% received by Democrat candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar.
Issa’s service in Congress dates back to 2001, when he served in the 48th Congressional District. He later served nine terms in California’s 49th District. During his tenure in Congress, Issa served as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
To all the voters who participated in this election, thank you. To everyone who volunteered time or treasure to support me these past 14 months, thank you. I have been so encouraged during this campaign by all the new supporters I’ve met across our vast and diverse District. pic.twitter.com/e6FTHYz41A

During President Donald Trump’s first term, Issa was nominated to be the Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and he also received President Trump’s endorsement earlier this year. Other endorsements include South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and many more.
During his coming term, Issa plans to take on policies and issues that continue to affect Californians. He will fight for strong border control, removal of sanctuary cities, accountability of extremists in Congress, and putting American workers first. Issa is also a proud advocate for the Second Amendment and pro-life policies, and will surely push Congress to protect the rights to life and self-defense.
