Escondido School Board Victories an Encouraging Sign for Students and Parents

Written by Riley Gould

The future looks bright for education in Escondido as Christi Knight, Dane White, and Mark Olson all succeeded in their respective races for Escondido School Boards.

Christi Knight won the Escondido Union High School District Area 3 race. Her main priorities are implementing school choice, empowering teachers, and creating a post-graduation route for young people to be ready for their future.

Dane White won the Escondido Union High School District Area 4 election, and promises to provide opportunities for vocational education to students. White is also keen on improving fiscal responsibility, ensuring that EUHSD students get a high quality education while taxpayer money is used effectively and responsibly.

Mark Olson won the race for Escondido Union School District Area 3. He says that educating our children must include a focus on about social and emotional well-being. He has plans to address Escondido’s declining enrollment, which has been of increasing concern for the district.

With these three candidates in office, Escondido students are much better positioned to succeed inside the classroom and out. The shared emphasis of restoring local control and promoting parental involvement in education will both be instrumental in the improvement of local schools.
