If you’re a minimum wage worker in San Diego, you will soon see a slight increase in your paycheck.
Yes, that’s right, San Diego is set to increase its minimum wage to $14 an hour. Placing it above the state minimum wage of $13 per hour, and only $1 below the highest nationwide minimum wage of $15 an hour.
The new rate will go into effect on January 1, 2021, which puts San Diego on track to reach the state goal of a $15 per hour minimum wage by 2023.
With that being said, the same minimum wage bump isn’t happening throughout the state of California—at least not for everyone. The state minimum wage will remain at $13 an hour for employers with 25 employees or less. For businesses with 26 or more employees, the minimum hourly wage will be raised to $14.
