Ray Pearson is running for re-election to the Carlsbad Unified School District Board of Trustees Area 3 as the endorsed candidate of the Republican Party of San Diego County.
Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Ray was chosen to take part in Westinghouse Broadcasting and Cable’s advanced management program, thus commencing a 35-year career in U.S. and international telecommunications industries. His capabilities would lead him to managerial positions within a scope of well-known firms, among them The Walt Disney Company and Western Digital.
Ray’s considerable experience in the telecommunications industry has certainly translated into his dedicated commitment to multiple community organizations. He is currently a board member of the Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation, the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation, the Rotary Foundation, and the North Coastal Prevention Coalition, of which he is also former president. Additionally, Pearson has been a judge for Speech and Debate at Carlsbad High School and has been a board advisor for the Mitchell Thorp Foundation.
Among the chief issues Ray aims to tackle is that of family choice during the pandemic. He advocates for the safe return of children to in-person classrooms, but equally supports those families who may want for their kids virtual instruction. For K-12 students, he is a proponent of the Independent Study model, which provides the option for a mixture of both in-person and virtual study.
A high quality education that provides CUSD students with the opportunities for success is what Pearson strives to achieve. The support of the business, bio-technology, and medical communities—each so important to the development of San Diego—in education has been a constant effort for Ray, and he will continue to tailor a learning environment that will play to the career interests of students.
On the issue of taxpayer dollars, Ray supports the refinancing of Proposition P and Proposition HH bonds, saving millions of dollars for the foreseeable future and allowing for the flow of additional funds to the school district.
Ultimately, Ray will continue to increase the quality of CUSD, as he has done the last six years.
