Candidate Profile: Laura Bassett for Oceanside City Clerk

Laura Bassett is running for Oceanside City Clerk as the endorsed candidate of the Republican Party of San Diego County. She was born and raised in Oceanside, graduated from El Camino High School, and later went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California. Bassett’s credentials and years of local experience make her a great candidate for the position.

Laura has been a real estate broker for the past 13 years and a licensed professional fiduciary for the past nine years. She accomplished this all while she and her husband raised their six children.

“My mom instilled a sense of civic duty in me from a very young age. Along with being very involved with community events during my school-aged years, I have also worked as a volunteer on local events with the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce such as Harbor Days and Operation Appreciation. I have also been very involved with the local theater community with my entire family since 2006, and have worked as a volunteer at the historic Star Theatre in downtown Oceanside.”

Bassett is running for City Clerk because she wants to give back to the community and “be a part of keeping Oceanside unique and excellent.” She and her extended family have been teaching, building, and serving in Oceanside for several generations with the goal of keeping Oceanside great. In terms of her views, Laura is a lifelong Republican who believes in limited government and sees the need for conservative voices in all levels of government.

“I believe the integrity of this office is important and look forward to continuing the high standards the office has always maintained,” Bassett explained. “I hope you will join me in making Oceanside a better place for all and a place where integrity and uniqueness are always associated.”
