Tonight, at 5 p.m., San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond will again join the We Mean Business Coalition in calling for the restoration of local control with regard to the reopening of businesses. A similar event was organized last week, when Desmond proudly stood with local business leaders who are struggling to maintain their livelihoods.

The We Mean Business Coalition includes Supervisor Jim Desmond, Fit Athletic CEO Scott Lutwack, Retired Navy Pilot, President, and CEO of San Diego Air and Space Museum Jim Kidrick, Bub’s Owner Todd Brown, Lash Lift Owner Sara Krenciki, Catalyst Creative Events Owner Amy Ulkutekin, San Diego Coaster Company General Manager Steve Thomas, and Eastbound Bar & Grill Owner Ben Clevenger.
The frustration of these local business leaders centers on the fact that much of the country continues to reopen their economies, while California dramatically lags behind. They believe that there is a way to reopen California while protecting our most vulnerable and restarting the economy to address the budget shortfalls looming over the state due to pandemic-related closures.

“We believe that like the rest of the country, there is a way to open businesses, protect our community and start the California economy on a path to recovery through a joint contract between businesses and the county. The current State designed lockdown plan must be revised to provide a reasonable pathway for complete reopening,” said the We Mean Business Coalition. “We support our County leaders ending draconian over-measures and creating a plan that works for San Diego. We are committed to using safety measures that are prescribed by our County Health Advisors and elected officials.”
