Joe Biden Endorses Democrat Congressional Candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar

Earlier this week, Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden endorsed Ammar Campa-Najjar for the 50th Congressional District in his race against Darrell Issa. An endorsement by his party’s presidential candidate would normally be seen as a good thing, but this likely harms Campa-Najjar.

Joe Biden is a radical, plain and simple. From refusing to condemn ANTIFA to choosing Kamala Harris as his running mate—this is clear. Campa-Najjar is as well, but his entire campaign hinges on not being perceived that way.

Due to running against Darrell Issa, a very popular long time congressman, and in the county’s most Republican district, Campa-Najjar’s chances are already very slim. The only way he could possibly win is by doing what Mike Levin did in 2018—pose as a moderate Democrat until you’ve been elected.

By endorsing him, Joe Biden basically did what he always does and said the quiet part out loud. This seriously damages Campa-Najjar’s chances because while he could market himself as a moderate Democrat that’s simply fed up with President Trump, Issa’s campaign team can hone in on his endorsement by Biden. Voters may not know who Campa-Najjar truly is, but they definitely know Joe Biden.

Campa-Najjar was already destined to lose again, but Biden really sealed his defeat. There is really no upside to this endorsement, and all of it really does is show voters what kind of Democrat Campa-Najjar will be if he’s ever elected.
