Candidate Profile: Jerry Jones for Mayor of Lemon Grove

Written by Michael Palomba

Jerry Jones is running for Mayor of Lemon Grove as the endorsed candidate of the Republican Party of San Diego County. He has extensive experience contributing to the city that makes him the right candidate for the position.

Jones has been a resident of Lemon Grove for over 43 years and he’s run his own business in the city for over 25 years. Additionally, he has served as President of the Lemon Grove School District Board, PTA President at Lemon Grove Middle School, President of Kiwanis Club, and President of Lemon Grove Music Parents. Throughout his life in Lemon Grove, Jones has been a dedicated member of the community, constantly working to make the city a better place.

Currently, Jones is the Chair of the Metro Wastewater Commission JPA and acts as the Lemon Grove Liaison to the East County Chamber of Commerce. His history also includes sitting on the board of the East County Economic Development Council and acting as the chair of the Regional Planning Committee (SANDAG).

Jones has a clear set of priorities that he believes will make Lemon Grove a better place. For starters, he has a strong focus on fiscal responsibility. He believes that the city needs a balanced budget, proper reserves, and new sources of revenue.

One of the ways he would like to increase revenue streams is to attract more businesses to the city. He plans to improve the business environment of Lemon Grove and create a system in which businesses have direct contact with the office of the Mayor. Small and local businesses are the backbone of our society, so a healthy, accessible line of communication between them and the mayor will allow for the creation of a more productive business environment.

In addition to being fiscally responsible, Jones knows that there’s nothing the citizens of Lemon Grove value more than safety. He advocates for increasing law enforcement presence for safer neighborhoods, parks, and businesses.

If you live in Lemon Grove, you know that some streets could use a little sprucing up and a rising population is making things like parking and traffic a struggle. Jones would work to ensure improved streets and sidewalks, more parking, as well as more lighting to keep people safe at night and improved parks.

Jones has received countless endorsements from great local leaders like San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, State Senator Brian Jones, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells, Poway Mayor Steve Vaus, Coronado Mayor Richard Bailey, The Lincoln Club of San Diego County, the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors, and many more.
