Written by Michael Palomba

Henry Martinez is the Republican Party of San Diego County’s endorsed candidate running for Chula Vista City Council District 3.

Martinez has a diverse background that has given him the skills and insight that a city councilman needs. For starters, he co-founded the Honor Our Veterans Parade in Chula Vista, which helps to instill the value of public servicemen and women in the community and honors our nation’s heroes. He also served as Vice President of the Association of Naval Service Officers (ANSO) Western Pacific.

On top of all of that, he has a distinguished military career. He served over 32 years as a Naval Officer and provided outstanding leadership and service to our nation. He also has a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s of Science from the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College.

“Our District needs a person that is Committed to Community, has Strategic Vision, and who will be an authentic voice for our District. I am that person! I am passionate about our community and will work to keep Chula Vista safe, beautiful, and make it a global economic force,” said Martinez. “As citizens of Chula Vista we can do this by insisting local government be run with transparency and by investing in our public spaces and promoting well-balanced development. I promise to work tirelessly to represent you!”

Martinez also explained that he wants “positive improvements for the people of Chula Vista,” which includes creating high-paying jobs, repairing crumbling infrastructure, protecting family values, and keeping the community safe. One of the ways he wants to improve quality of life in Chula Vista is by creating Boys & Girls Clubs and Senior Citizen Centers to provide activities and enjoyment to countless individuals.

In addition to improving quality of life in Chula Vista, Martinez also wants to fix the city’s ballooning deficit. “Runaway costs are creating a budget deficit. Chula Vista spends more money than it receives,” he explained. “Left unchecked, this growing deficit will impact the city’s ability to provide essential community services.”

Martinez is the right choice for the Chula Vista City Council. With his vision for the city and solid leadership experience, he’s clearly the candidate who will bring Chula Vista to the height of its potential.
