San Diego Padres Teaming Up with San Diego Blood Bank for Three Day Blood Drive

The Fourth Annual Padres Summer Blood Drive has officially kicked off in coordination with the San Diego Blood Bank. This year’s drive will span three days, beginning today and lasting through Thursday, operating from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day.

Padres alum Randy Jones, as well as representatives from the San Diego Blood Bank and the San Diego Padres will be in attendance. The drive is being held at Petco Park’s Lexus Premier Parking Lot on the corner of Park Blvd and Imperial Ave.

This will be the first time that community bloodmobiles will be circling since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it certainly isn’t the first step that the San Diego Blood Bank has taken to help the community over these past few months.

Recently, they hosted convalescent plasma drives with recovered COVID-19 patients in order to help those infected fight off the virus, and obtained blood from healthy donors throughout quarantine. However, the Padres Summer Blood Drive is especially important this year, as stay-at-home orders have caused many other summer drives to be canceled.

Spots are limited and appointments are mandatory, so don’t hesitate to sign up. Safety measures, such as donor screening and enhanced cleaning procedures, will be in place for all attendees.
