Republican Party of San Diego County Chairman Encouraging Californians to Stand Up for Freedom

Written by Michael Palomba

Earlier this week, California Governor Gavin Newsom recently declared that some “nonessential” businesses would be allowed to reopen beginning this Friday.

Republican Party of San Diego County Chairman Tony Krvaric was featured on One America News to share his thoughts on the matter.

“I wish the governor was listening to science and data. We’ve had, for far too long, a governor paralyzed in decision making. We’re frozen in time from 6-7 weeks ago and the pressure is building up from the people,” said Krvaric.

Krvaric is correct in noting that Californians have been cooped up at home for many weeks now. While this may not be a problem for some, it’s detrimental for others. For one, many people lost their jobs and are struggling to stay afloat. Additionally, physical and mental health is on the decline, and domestic abuse rates are rising. This lockdown is having some serious negative effects, and many are asking if the lockdowns are worth it.

The Republican Party of San Diego County says no. The party recently issued its first-ever resolution which “Demand[s] Governor Newsom End the Statewide Lockdown.”

Krvaric echoed many of the points made in the resolution during his interview.

For one, the point of the lockdown was to bend the curve, not eliminate the virus. The number of people who have been led to believe that the plan is to stay home until COVID-19 cases are at zero is concerning. That was never the plan, and it would never happen.

The whole reason for the stay-at-home orders was to reduce the spread and limit the number of hospital beds needed at once; we didn’t what to overwhelm the healthcare system. With that achieved, a complete lockdown is unreasonable and unnecessary.

Krvaric, who is originally from Sweden, discussed how his former home is “doing it right” by “talking to their citizens like they’re adults and sovereign citizens, not like children like our governor.”

Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, has no issued restrictive lockdown orders and is on track to reach herd immunity. That surely makes one wonder if all of these lockdown measures were for nothing.

Krvaric urged “to keep the pressure on Governor Newsom and demand our economy back.”

That sentiment appears to only be growing more popular in recent weeks, and Governor Newsom would be well served to recognize the needs and desires of Californians.
