On Thursday, State Senator Brian Jones hosted another blood drive event, coordinating with American Red Cross of San Diego, Hamann Companies, and local community leaders.
The event took place in El Cajon, with all of the appointment slots being filled by blood donors. This is the third blood drive that Jones has hosted in recent weeks, bringing attention to the huge medical demand for blood amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Blood donations are still running very low due to concerns over the coronavirus. Donating blood is considered “essential” and is an exemption to the Governor’s “Stay at Home” Executive Order.
While many people have become aware of the food, water, and sanitation needs of San Diegans, the need for blood is also up there on the list of essentials. It’s vital that we continue to support our communities in any way we can, and for those who are able, donating blood is one of the best ways to do just that.
