On Thursday, the County Clerk’s East County office officially opened its doors. The location will serve as a one-stop-shop for assessments, records, taxes, archives, and even weddings.
San Diego County Assessor Ernie Dronenburg oversaw much of the planning and development for the office and explained how necessary and beneficial it will be for residents of Santee and all of San Diego County. “Our new Santee location is a state-of-the-art office that reflects the east county community while providing faster quality service and more jobs in east county,” he explained.
San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob also spoke at the grand opening, offering optimism and excitement for everything the new Clerk’s office will offer. She also emphasized the building’s status as a net-zero emissions facility, allowing it to be sustainable for many years to come.
The archives already being stored in the building date back over a century, and the hope is that the facility has storage space for another 50 years, adding to its long term sustainability.
While much of the building has the expected “government office” feel to it, the impressive technological features and beautiful artwork help bring a welcoming eloquence of modernity. It’s the latest installment of County Clerk offices, with existing locations in Chula Vista, Kearny Mesa, San Marcos, and downtown San Diego.
