Mark Powell, T.J. Zane, and Charlene Zettel issue support of Joe Leventhal’s bid for District 5
(San Diego, CA) – San Diego County Board of Education Vice President Mark Powell, Poway Unified School District Trustee T.J. Zane, and University of California Regent and former State Assemblywoman (AD75) Charlene Zettel today endorsed Joe Leventhal for City Council.
“I applaud Joe’s efforts to bring new solutions to the table when it comes to advocating for San Diego’s next generation. I believe he will be a great asset to our community serving on the City Council,” said Mark Powell.
“As a father of three, Joe is keenly aware of the everyday challenges San Diego parents and children face. I know that he will promote initiatives that will improve our quality of life on the City Council,” said T.J. Zane.
“Joe will bring bold leadership to the issues that matter to San Diegans most – reducing our homeless population, keeping our diverse economy strong, repairing crumbling roads and infrastructure, and doing all he can to support our schools. Joe has my complete endorsement,” said Zettel. Regent Zettel first met Leventhal when she was in the California Assembly and Leventhal was advocating for increased funding for the University of California.
“I am proud to accept the support of these leaders in education. As our campaign picks up momentum, I will continue to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of San Diego’s children,” said Leventhal.
Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he’s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego’s persistent challenges.
The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Peñasquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District’s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.
