Daniel’s experience both as a former community college student and an educator will revitalize the Board of Trustees to put students first again.
SAN DIEGO, CA, December 11, 2019. Constitutional legal advocate Daniel Piedra announced that he has filed with the County Registrar of Voters as a candidate in the March 3, 2020, primary election to represent District B of the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees. Daniel is officially endorsed by the Republican Party.
Daniel said:
“Our District needs a fresh voice and energetic leadership that puts students first. I’m running because the Board has lost touch with what students truly need—an affordable opportunity to achieve their education and career goals.”
Daniel currently serves as executive director of a nonprofit constitutional rights organization. He earned his law degree from the University of San Diego, and he received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University after transferring from a two-year community college. He is the first member of his family to attend college. He also is a former educator, having taught middle school language arts in both public and private schools.
Daniel said:
“As a former community college student and an educator, I have the real-world experience to genuinely advocate for both students and teachers. A community college system should not be a playground for administrators with bloated salaries. It should be an incubator for the dreams and career goals of students taught by caring teachers who are well-paid and appreciated.”
Daniel, 34, has been married for 11 years and has two sons. He is a proud resident of Kearny Mesa.
Daniel added, “The Board of Trustees has stagnated, distracted by the piles of taxpayer dollars at their whim and beholden to political correctness. It’s time to put students first again.”
