Local businessman Jim DeBello is taking a shot at Rep. Scott Peter’s coveted spot as the representative of the 52nd congressional district. Peters is a four-term incumbent, but DeBello’s unique perspective will bring a new angle to the election that just might be the key to his victory.
Last week, DeBello held his campaign launch in front of a huge crowd of supporters in downtown San Diego. Those in attendance are clearly ready for change and believe that DeBello is just the man to shake things up in Washington.
DeBello is not a career politician—his experience lies in the business and technology sectors, as do his accomplishments. Not only was the CEO of Mitek, but he previously worked for Qualcomm, and co-invented technology company that allows users to deposit checks using a mobile phone. This experience will help him bring new light to the 52nd district’s notable high-tech sector, as well as approach the hospitality and defense sectors in new innovative ways.
In contrast to DeBello’s much-needed fresh perspective lies Rep. Peters, another example of an establishment Democrat masquerading as a moderate. He presents himself as a sort of centrist Democrat—which is now an oxymoron—but his record places him alongside the likes of far-left Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
However, Peters has remained committed to blindly following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s agenda, which is the sole reason he now favors impeaching President Trump after being against it for so long.
And now we are assigned another solemn task by the Constitution and by current events. We need to begin impeachment hearings.

Peters has managed to hold onto his position thanks to his ties to big-money donors and his alignment with establishment elites. It’s going to take someone against the grain to break that, and Jim DeBello is just the man we need.
