Homelessness is Now the Most Important Issue for Californians as Garbage Democratic Policies Only Make Things Worse

Homelessness, once barely registered as a political issue, has become a top concern as the 2020 election draws near. Voters are beginning to realize that the direction that our Democratic state legislators are taking California in is causing more problems than solutions—and they’re not happy about it.

The Public Policy Institute of California surveyed voters and found that homelessness and the economy were the two most pressing issues to California voters. In past surveys dating back to 1999, homelessness barely made the poll. It hasn’t ever made double digits until now.

Sadly, homelessness numbers are only going up. The only large city in which homelessness has gone down in California is San Diego—which happens to have a Republican mayor in Kevin Faulconer. Though Mayor Faulconer understands his constituents and the policies that benefit them, the same can’t be said for the Democratic mayors of cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles, who are willing to sit idly by while the homeless population increases.

On the subject of the failures of elected officials, 54 percent of California’s voters believe that the state government is heading in the wrong direction—and this comes as no surprise. The collective trash pile of initiatives generated by Gov. Gavin Newsom and the rest of his Democratic allies has cost our state billions, led to disastrous consequences, and destroyed the faith of voters.

The numbers aren’t lying. If Newsom and the Democrats don’t clean up their act in time for the election, they’ll be sacrificing their nice, cushy offices in the Capitol to people who will actually do their jobs. With the state of things now, such a change would be welcome.
