Recently, San Marcos was recognized as the best suburb in San Diego County to raise a family. San Marcos earned their honorary title from GoBanking Rates, which is a personal finance advisory and managing tool.

GoBanking Rates finds the best suburban towns in major cities in every state with a thorough study and observation compiled using multiple factors. These include the median home list and monthly rent (analyzed from Zillow’s May 2019 index), annual cost of groceries, healthcare, utilities and transportation (analyzed from Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2017-18 Consumer Expenditure Survey), the quality of the school districts (analyzed from Niche), and the violent and property crime rate per 1,000 residents (analyzed from NeighborhoodScout).
