Patrick Batten for City Council Receives Former Assembly Leader’s Endorsement

Former Assembly Republican Leader George Plescia joins the growing list of political and business leaders who have endorsed Patrick Batten’s campaign for San Diego City Council

SAN DIEGO (September 3, 2019) –– Former Assembly Republican Leader George Plescia has announced his support for Patrick Batten for City Council.

“I enthusiastically endorse Patrick Batten for San Diego City Council,” said George Plescia. “Patrick is a long-time resident of the district; understands the intricacies of each community and will be a tireless champion for the community’s best interest.”

George Plescia represented the constituents of the 75th Assembly District from 2002 to 2008. Nearly all of the current San Diego Council District 5 sat within the 75th Assembly District during Assemblyman George Plescia’s term.

“Patrick has been engaged in service to his community, to San Diego and to the country for more than 25 years,” said Plescia. “Whether working in the legislature to support fiscally responsible policies, serving our country in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan or volunteering in his local community, he has always put the interest of others over his own.”

Plescia joins a growing list of endorsements for Patrick Batten, which includes, but is not limited to: Congressman Darrell Issa, Supervisor Bill Horn, Senators Jim Battin, Mark Wyland and Joel Anderson, Assemblyman Russ Bogh, and former City Councilman Jim Madaffer.

“The endorsement of former Republican Assembly Leader George Plescia continues to build on the momentum we are seeing in the community for my campaign,” said Batten. “George represented this district in Sacramento and protected the values of our community. Patrick Batten is a graduate of San Diego State University. He enlisted in the Marine Corps after 9/11 and later commissioned as an Artillery Officer. He served in combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. He and his wife Kelly, reside in the community of Westwood in Rancho Bernardo where they are raising their four children.
