Michael Brunker, the beloved community leader, is to be honored by the San Diego Rotary as “Mr. San Diego” at a luncheon on September 19.

San Diego Rotary President David Oates said about Brunker, “To say that Michael is an icon in our city among individuals who embody the Rotary spirit of ‘Service Above Self’ is an understatement…He is an inspiration to all who know him. We couldn’t be more honored to name her this year’s Mr. San Diego.”

This is not the first time that he has been recognized for his community service. Brunker also received the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award for serving the Jackie Robinson YMCA in Mountain View as executive director for more than 20 years.

Brunker is the YMCA of San Diego County’s Vice President for mission advancement. His role is to identify and establish new relationships with people and organizations that further the goals of the YMCA by doubling its impact and increasing participation throughout the County.

As a reward for Brunker’s decades of service to the people of San Diego, he will be formally recognized as a true pillar of the community.
