Media Advisory Issa to Announce New Legislation to Combat Fentanyl Crisis

Temecula – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), co-chair of the Congressional Fentanyl Caucus, will be joined by local leaders and community members at a press conference on December 8, 2023, at 10:00 am PT in Temecula, CA to introduce Alexandra’s Law – new legislation to combat America’s deadly fentanyl crisis.

Rep. Issa’s new legislation – Alexandra’s Law

  1. Requires convicted fentanyl dealers to sign a sworn statement acknowledging that fentanyl is fatal and that if they deal again and it results in a death, they could face murder charges.
  2. This evidence would be admissible in both state and federal court.

ABOUT ALEXANDRA
The namesake of this legislation is Alexandra Capelouto of Temecula, who died in 2019 at the age of 20 as a result of fentanyl poisoning. Read about Alexandra here.

Darrell Issa is the Representative of California’s 48th Congressional District. The District encompasses the central and eastern parts of San Diego County and a portion of Riverside County, including the communities of Fallbrook, Valley Center, Ramona, Escondido, Santee, Lakeside, Poway, Temecula, Murrieta, and the mountain and desert areas of the San Diego-Imperial County line.
