SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher (Yuba City) is applauding today’s announcement that Sites Reservoir will benefit from a new law fast tracking environmental reviews of major infrastructure projects.
“After five years of inaction, it’s good to see Newsom finally act to create more water storage,” said Gallagher. “Californians have suffered under these absurd and unnecessary regulations for too long. We need to expand on the reforms from SB 149 so housing and wildfire safety projects can get the same relief.”
Sites will be the first large reservoir built in California since 1976, holding enough water for at least 3 million homes and improving the state’s drought resiliency.
