California Restaurant Association, San Diego Chapter Endorses Former Mayor Kevin Faulconer For Supervisor

SAN DIEGO, CA — Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, candidate for San Diego County Supervisor, announced the endorsement of the California Restaurant Association, San Diego chapter. The latest endorsement comes on the heels of a growing campaign effort focused on delivering results for people across San Diego county.

The California Restaurant Association is the uniting force behind the restaurant industry throughout California and San Diego. They bring together our communities, impact legislation, cultivate relationships to help foster growth and provide valuable resources to help sustain small businesses.

“We believe Kevin Faulconer has what it takes to bring commonsense solutions to the Board of Supervisors in San Diego County,” said Chris Duggan, Director of Local Government Affairs: San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. “During the pandemic, Mayor Faulconer took immediate action to support the restaurant industry by providing relief, and helping to keep our doors open. Without his help, support and advocacy, the restaurant industry would have seen a catastrophic decline in the region. We trust Kevin will continue to advocate for common sense solutions to help our local restaurants thrive as they continue to recover from the pandemic.”

“I’m excited to receive the backing of the California Restaurant Association, San Diego chapter.” said Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. “Small businesses are the heart of our communities; I recognized that as Mayor and will continue to do so as Supervisor. We need to inject common sense into policy, something that has been lacking at the county level. That’s why I’m running for Supervisor, to bring back some common sense and help our restaurant community thrive again.”

As the Mayor of San Diego, Faulconer worked diligently across the aisle to keep San Diego businesses open and operational during the pandemic. In the early start of the pandemic, he signed an executive order that allowed restaurants to serve patrons outside, following social distancing recommendations, without the need to purchase permits that take a considerable amount of time and resources. In addition to making it easier to operate during turbulent times, Faulconer led the City of San Diego in establishing a pandemic relief fund which provided more than 2,000 local San Diego businesses with grants, saving nearly 10,000 jobs, where half of the recipients were operating in underserved communities.
