In 2015, schools in neighborhoods like Lincoln and Crawford faced low local enrollment rates. Recent figures show similar trends, with new schools like Logan Memorial Educational Complex facing the same challenges. Notably, Scripps Ranch sees 93% local enrollment, while Logan Memorial sits at 28%.
While school board member Richard Barrera points to school reputation as a significant factor, the increasing number of parents choosing charter schools, particularly in Lincoln and Logan Memorial areas, signals concerns over district schools.
Despite some gains, like the modest rise in neighborhood high school attendance from 52% in 2014-2015 to 60% recently, questions persist about the effectiveness of the Democratic leadership in making substantial change.
