On October 25, 2023, an event is set at the San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Archive. At 10:00 AM, esteemed guests, distinguished colleagues, and the citizens of San Diego County are invited to join County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Z. Marks for a ceremony of significance – the dedication of the County Archive Reading Room to the Honorable Ernest J. Dronenburg, Jr.
Ernest, or Ernie as he is more commonly known, is a figure who embodies the epitome of selfless service and unwavering dedication. With a professional journey spanning over five decades, Ernie’s contributions to San Diego County are monumental, echoing the sentiments of respect and admiration shared by all who have had the privilege of working with him.
The ceremony is not just an event, but a celebration of his legacy in our county’s history. From 2012 to 2022, Ernie served as the County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk with distinction. His roles as Chair of the State Board of Equalization, the Franchise Tax Board, and the San Diego County Board of Education underscore a career marked by excellence and integrity.
In 2020, under Ernie’s visionary leadership, the award-winning Archives came into existence, a testament to his commitment to preserving the rich tapestry of the county’s history. The Archives, a reservoir of official records dating back to the county’s formation in 1850, stands as an enduring legacy of Ernie’s contributions.
The event will have light refreshments, and bow ties, a nod to classic elegance, are encouraged to be worn. The ceremony is scheduled to conclude at 11:30 AM.
