The outgoing Speaker of the Assembly has realized that James Gallagher and I were right to sue Newsom. Though the Supermajority never lifted a finger to help us, he now tells the LA Times one-man rule has done lasting damage to our state:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Legislature created a power imbalance when they left the Capitol during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and allowed Newsom<\/em>\u00a0to enact policy alone. \u2018The Legislature weakened itself by not showing up and that relationship between the branches has never been the same<\/em>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking back at\u00a0our first court filing<\/span><\/a>\u00a0three years ago, it\u2019s chilling how much has come true. While the damage caused by Newsom and the Supermajority can never be undone, we have at least ended the state and national emergencies and are still working to restore sanity.<\/p>\n

To that end, last week we passed legislation in the House to correct for the grave injustice of discharging 8,000 servicemembers from the military based on personal vaccine decisions. I\u2019m also co-sponsoring a bill to remove the vaccine mandate for new legal U.S. citizens.<\/p>\n

This week, the Judiciary Committee will be the center of the action. Tomorrow, I\u2019ll be questioning Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas about the border crisis caused by Biden\u2019s reckless policies. You can watch the hearing\u00a0here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the DEA Administrator will appear before our committee. That same day, we will also advance\u00a0a Resolution<\/span><\/a>\u00a0holding Mark Zuckerberg in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena related to his censorship of free speech.<\/p>\n

Finally, Speaker McCarthy has announced that the investigation into Joe Biden \u201cis rising to the level of an impeachment inquiry.\u201d As a Member of House Judiciary, the committee of jurisdiction for impeachment, I am ready to follow the facts where they lead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
