Yesterday, Gavin Newsom remarked to an interviewer, \u201cI love when you say governor.\u201d She then asked, wryly, \u201cNot president?\u201d Newsom\u00a0responded<\/span><\/a>, \u201cNo, not y\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

Not\u00a0ever<\/em>: If Newsom\u2019s national ambitions weren\u2019t delusional enough already, the collapse of his home city in recent days is making the point in dramatic fashion.<\/p>\n

Whole Foods just announced it\u2019s closing its SF store, citing the \u201csafety of employees\u201d after 568 emergency calls in 13 months. Nordstrom is doing the same because of the \u201clack of enforcement against rampant criminal activity.\u201d<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not just San Francisco: new data shows California\u2019s population dropped for a third straight year in 2022. Prior to Newsom, it had never declined once. This is the \u201cmodel for the nation\u201d we are fighting against every day.<\/p>\n

For instance, I just led\u00a0a Special Order<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on the Floor of the House, where one Member of Congress after another joined the fight to stop Newsom\u2019s acolyte, Julie Su, from failing up to Biden\u2019s cabinet. On this front, victory is in sight.<\/p>\n

On another front, victory is accomplished \u2013 and sanity restored. Biden is ending vaccine mandates for federal employees (including health workers) and international travelers, in accordance with legislation I co-sponsored that recently passed the House.<\/p>\n

Finally, new student test scores show the worst understanding of civics and U.S. history in decades. This failure of our education system is truly a \u201cthreat to democracy.\u201d It\u2019s why I wanted to be on the Education Committee.<\/p>\n

In addition to my School Choice Amendment, which passed the House along with the Parents Bill of Rights, I am introducing the Free Speech on Campus Act. This will make sure every college student understands the First Amendment.<\/p>\n
