The San Diego County Board of Supervisors recently made the decision to hold a special election for the District 4 seat left vacant by the resignation of Nathan Fletcher. Of those who were in favor of this decision, Supervisor Jim Desmond was one of the ones leading the charge for a special election.<\/p>\n

Desmond believes that it is important for the residents of District 4 to have a say in who will represent them for the next three years. With a population of 700,000 people, it is crucial that their voices are heard and that they are given the opportunity to choose their representative fairly and transparently.<\/p>\n

A special election allows the residents of District 4 to evaluate and compare the candidates, their positions, and their qualifications. This way, they can make an informed decision and choose the candidate who they believe will best represent their interests. This is much more democratic than having the decision made by four politicians outside of District 4, who may not fully understand the needs and concerns of the residents.<\/p>\n
